The Mark

The Leges Motus identity began with an exploration of wordmarks, monograms, racing badges, mechanical typography, and graphics inspired by automotive culture. One question ultimately guided the process:

How can the identity itself represent movement?

The final mark is an abstract combination of the letters L and M, with meaning built into each part of its construction.

The L and the opening of the M form the rotational portion of the symbol, representing continuous movement and the recurring motion of a wheel, engine, or mechanical cycle.

The mark’s forward lean expresses momentum, direction, and the decision to keep progressing rather than remain still.

The final two lines represent the pillars of body and mind - the physical and mental strength required to sustain movement with discipline and purpose.

The symbol also contains a hidden reciprocal meaning. When turned upside down, the body and mind pillars move to the front, followed by the rotational form. It reflects the relationship at the center of Leges Motus: movement strengthens the body and mind, while the body and mind provide the foundation for perpetual movement.

Influenced by racing stripes and automotive liveries, the mark was designed to work beyond a conventional logo. It can extend naturally across vehicles, apparel, and other surfaces as a visual expression of speed, repetition, and forward motion.

But Leges Motus was never intended to feel like loud automotive merchandise. The mark is deliberately subtle - refined enough to wear at the office or in everyday life, while still carrying a personal meaning for the person wearing it.

From a distance, it is a clean graphic. Up close, it becomes a quiet reminder:
