The third-generation RX-7, built from 1992 to 2002, is widely considered one of the most beautiful shapes ever to come out of Japan.
Under the bonnet sat something no one else would build: a sequential twin-turbo rotary engine, compact and light enough to give the car a 50:50 weight distribution and a character entirely its own. It arrived a year after Mazda's rotary-powered 787B became the first Japanese car to win Le Mans outright.
From mountain passes to tuner garages and the pages of Initial D, the FD earned its place as a defining car of the Japanese performance era.
Part of the Icons in Motion collection: a tribute to the cars whose design, engineering and character left a lasting mark on automotive culture.
