In 1990, Honda set out to prove that a supercar didn't have to punish its owner. The NSX was the first production car with an all-aluminium semi-monocoque body, it brought VTEC to a mid-mounted V6, and Ayrton Senna lent his feedback on the handling during development.
The result had the pace of the European exotics with the visibility, comfort and reliability of an everyday car. Rivals were forced to rethink what a supercar could be, and the cars that followed were better for it.
Fifteen years in production, the NSX remains the purest statement of what Japanese engineering can do at the very top.
